Carne! !

Locals shouldering hind quarters of beef off a flat-bed at midnight with only a potato sack between them and the meat was interesting to Watch! These guys had to have been lugging 150-200lb skinned cow legs for fresh delivery to the restaurants and markets...Bloody Business!

We are having fun, being safe, and will be enjoying a great island adventure tomorrow! Pictures to come:-)

Welcome to Colombia

So i tried my best to refuse the complimentary message on the beach that happened to be by a pregnant Cartagena local.  After the right foot was nearly crippled, she moved to the left.  With Janelle and Carolyn next to me, giggling, i was feeling like i was blending in as a true tourist :-)  But it wasn't until my free 5 min message turned into a  15 min 10,000 peso message that i really understood my purpose.  Lesson learned, or rather just reaffirmed....nothing is free! My subtle American refusals aren't effective nor aggressive enough. But a great first day lesson, don't let your discomfort or naivety get you in a situation you can't control. Cartagena is beautiful, the people are extremely nice, and im confident it's  only going to get better as im further immersed in the Culture!
